Yamuna River Water Levels Surge in Delhi

On Friday, the water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi rose by over a meter, marking the highest level of the season and surpassing the warning threshold for the third time this year. By Saturday morning around 9 AM, the river's level at the old railway bridge reached 205.22 meters, just below the danger mark of 205.33 meters. The Hathnikund Barrage continues to release significant amounts of water at regular intervals. Should the water level reach 206 meters, residents in low-lying areas will need to be evacuated to safer locations.

Weather Alerts and Temperature Updates

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for intermittent rain in Delhi on Saturday and Sunday. The daytime temperature is expected to hover around 33°C. The capital experienced a slight chill on Saturday morning, with the minimum temperature dropping to 25°C. Despite the cooler temperatures, humidity levels remained high, with a relative humidity of 90 percent recorded at 8:30 AM, indicating muggy conditions.

Air Quality and Pollution Levels

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 112 by 9 AM, placing it in the 'satisfactory' category. An AQI between 101 and 200 is considered 'moderate,' while levels from 51 to 100 fall under 'satisfactory.' Although 112 is slightly above the satisfactory range, it remains within acceptable limits.

Heavy Rain Alerts in Neighboring States

The IMD has also issued warnings for heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. In Uttarakhand, the risk of landslides has increased due to heavy rains. Meanwhile, Mumbai has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall since late Friday, severely disrupting daily life. Areas such as Andheri, Kurla, and Chembur have faced significant waterlogging, causing considerable difficulties for residents. The IMD predicts more heavy rain for Mumbai and Thane on Sunday, prompting an orange alert, with a red alert issued for Raigad district due to the potential for extremely heavy rainfall.
